Growing up, I was fortunate enough to never have to worry about having a roof over my head. I never had to worry about where I was going to sleep or what I was going to have for dinner. I never had to worry about where I was going to take a shower or where I was going to brush my teeth. Yet, not everyone has this experience.
Homelessness can affect anyone at any time in their life. When I was younger, I would volunteer at soup kitchens with my family. Through this experience, I was able to talk to the individuals that would come in and eat a meal. Although our conversations were casual and simple, it showed me that there are a number of circumstances that can lead someone to experience homelessness. Homelessness is an issue in the United States. We all need to care about it and educate ourselves on how to help. Even if it’s not an issue in your life, it affects someone else’s and that should be enough to do something!
My parents instilled in me a passion to serve, so I knew any organizations or projects I would work on would center around serving others. I believe GiveCard has the power to give hope to those that might have lost it. There is no simple or easy solution to ending homelessness, but I believe GiveCard can change lives for the better. Not only is the mission of GiveCard important to me, but the people that are working towards this mission are incredible. The GiveCard team is filled with kind, hardworking, and caring individuals. I’ve become a better person after working with each and every one of them. GiveCard has the power to create change and I love being a part of it!
